Meet Son of the South

I’m Joshua Carney, and Son of the South isn’t just a name, it’s a calling. My life took a turn most wouldn’t survive. After a life-altering turkey hunt left me paralyzed, I had two choices: give up or rise up. I chose to fight. Through faith, fierce resilience and a relentless love for the outdoors, I found purpose in the pain. Today, I help others do the same by telling real stories, living raw adventures and showing that healing is possible even when the world says it’s not.

Son of the South is my journey through fire, redemption, and a return to the wild. From the tree stand to the stage, from stem cell therapy rooms to horseback trails—I document it all. I’ve been blessed to appear on some of the world’s biggest platforms, not to show off, but to show others what’s possible when you mix grit, God, and guts. There was a time when the outdoors was just my passion but after surviving a near-fatal injury, it became my purpose. I was given a second chance at life, not by chance but by calling. What tried to take me out only lit a fire that still burns today. I wasn’t just made in the South—I was forged in the fire of pain, resilience, and redemption. Every scar I carry now tells a story and every step I take forward is a testimony to God’s grace and grit.

What I lost physically, I gained in vision. I turned the worst moment of my life into a mission to help others rise from their own rock bottoms. Through spinal cord recovery, mindset mastery, and unshakable faith, I’ve rebuilt a life not just worth living but worth sharing. Now, I speak, hunt, build and serve with a deeper purpose. Whether I’m in the woods or on stage, I’m living proof that your comeback can be greater than your circumstances.
